Re: Cherokee Village - Events and Promoting Our Area
Triathlon --- Iron Man Competition --- I would like to kick this thread off by suggesting this as a possible event. During Paul's recent visit we had several discussions on just how we could jump start, so to speak, the growing interest in attracting new people to our area. Paul came up with this great idea that we have been talking about since. The thought of having a triathlon. We know this is outside of the box thinking, but it's an idea that could be a great fit for Cherokee Village.
Residents love it here because of the natural beauty of the Ozarks, with gently rolling hills, lakes, and streams. All this is bundled together in a small, quiet, peaceful community. Having all these attributes, closely linked together with good roads, could make it the perfect location.
One of the benefits of having an event like this, is that it would bring in a whole new demographic of people to our area. It's also one of the same groups of people we should be pursuing as potential residents. We really have not thought enough about that.
One of the downsides is hotel accommodations. Our nightly rental, and local hotel businesses would help quite a bit, but we would still have to rely on towns such as Batesville, West Plains, and Mt. Home to name a few. I think those towns are close enough to make it work.
I look forward to getting some input and suggestions on this or any event. We do need to have an event that is a unique fit for Cherokee Village

Cherokee Village - Events and Promoting Our Area
This thread is for discussing the events we have in Cherokee Village and the surrounding Spring River area. New events that would be special or unique that we could develop and promote. Something that could draw people to visit here.
We have an awesome 4th of July Celebration with Thunder on Thunderbird. Every year it gets better and better.
The Christmas Tree Lighting - The three day December event was an incredible success. Attendance was great, with the Monday night tree lighting closing it out with an estimated 1000 people. There was a lot of excitement by all that attended to see the renewed life in town center.
We do have other events, but these were the two stand out events last year. We need to promote and help to make sure these continue with that same success. Volunteering is a great way for everyone to get involved.
