Cherokee Village Arkansas City Government Funding Issues

Hi Forum,

We have some important issues coming up in CV. Do you feel that the City is under-funded for the work it needs to do? If you think it does NOT need more revenue, be specific about what jobs the City does that you think are unnecessary and why the cuts wouldn't impact quality of life in the Village. If you think that they need more revenue, then be specific about why and what the value is to residents of specific functions of City government.

I think that they do need more revenue. One area that I want to see better funded is Code Enforcement. The reason is that I have seen major improvements in the appearance and quality of life in the Village when Code Enforcement was stepped up against messy property owners who were just plain lazy about property upkeep affecting home values for others and creating eyesores that make CV uninviting for future growth.

Another are where I see increased funding needed is Animal control. I have heard the argument that Animal Control only encourages dumping in the Village of strays. This may be true. However, the problem existed long before Animal Control and has gotten worse since funding has gone down. Also, as noted elsewhere, there are cases of appalling pet neglect, chasing dangerous dogs, and constant barking dogs that need to be dealt with in certain areas.
