Hi Forum,
I am still trying to get my head around why someone would want to switch from propane to natural gas given the present prices. Is there something I'm missing here?

I think it will come but on a small scale. But for those who dont want to use it, of course they don't have to. They can use what they've been using if they dont feel the need to switch or if the cost is more. I dont see the big deal in it coming.

Hi Mike & Forum,
It is pretty clear to me why a natural gas utility would want access to the Village. What is unclear is why a resident would want to switch without firm and extended commitment to lower prices than propane. I don't see that forthcoming. "It's a great idea" everyone says. Show me the money -- the saved money and a contract that keeps it that way relative to propane. I'm sure we will hear dead silence back on that one.

I actually believe this will come, but it will be smaller than first proposed. Give it time, it will come here is my guess.

Hi Forum,
Read in the paper that they has developed a problem with dumping the contaminated water from the fracking into huge existing wells in AR. They have been banned from doing it for "some" reason. Surprise, surprise....

Hi Mike,
I agree with Trout's past observation that this will probably not fly because folks are content with propane. There's just not enough incentive to switch at the moment. I suspect the present plan is to "pipe in" the gas from somewhat far away. However, it puts the nose of the camel under the tent as the saying goes. One thing can lead to another.
My concern is that "natural gas" exploration appears to have recently caused earthquake activity in Arkansas and generally makes one hell of an environmental mess wherever it's done. I know all the "theoretically it can been done cleanly" arguments. It just never is. Soon you can set your tap water on fire. Or fish die of methane or heavy metals poisoning. We don't ever need that drilling locally. Complete economic disaster and constant noise --trucks and banging machines 24/7. The end of the "Natural State" in our area.
