Re: Gun Laws
Hi trout,
What I'm trying to figure out is this no fire rule in the context of legal leadership rights. I take it that a person can fire in a certain set of emergencies like a bear coming through your window while your toddler is oin the rug. Right?

Re: Gun Laws
Hi Trout,
How does the no discharge law apply in CV to gun ownership/use?
Also, just saw this on City Data:
"Whats up with the Cherokee Village pistol and rifle shooting range? You need a 4X4 just to get into the place. The shot gun trap range is nice kept up and right on the road. Don't pistol and rifle shooters deserve decent place to go shoot? Where do the Cherokee Village police go shoot at? Bet its not there. Maybe S.I.D. should think about spending a little of our tax money and building a nice pistol and rifle range, Even if there is a charge to use it that's ok with me."

Re: Gun Laws
You learn during your training the places you can and can not carry. Each state has different guidelines and most states accept each others permits if one is traveling. TN permit looks like a driver's license with a red mark stating handgun permit. Also when an officer runs your DL it will show you have a HGP so he/she will be aware of it.

Re: Gun Laws
So basically any right you have stops at the State border. But isn't it worse than that because official counties and municipalities can have extra provisions hard to keep track of. It sounds like compliance is more complex than it should be for citizens to be well informed. Or am I missing something?

Re: Gun Laws
Are there any Federal permits that give multi-State rights?

Re: Gun Laws
the State has a concealed weapon permit that you can apply for. You must take a training course, background check and pay a state fee.
In TN it was $115 for the permit. Eight hour training course that covered liability issues, and firearm training (shooting) must pass course. Good for 4 years and renewed for $50 for 4 more years. I think AR is pretty much the same except it must be concealed where in TN you could carry open or concealed.
DON'T LEAVE HOME WITH OUT IT.
Other way to look at it is" I would rather have 12 judge me than 6 carry me".

Gun Laws
Hi trout,
Could you give us an overview of the gun laws for the State, County, and local CV level?
