WORRIES? PART 1 Empty WORRIES? PART 2

(cont.)

What worries me right now is a sense that the core vision is becoming diffuse -- watered down, beginning to be lost. It really needs to be recreated and have people happy about it once more, believing in it and working for it. What I see now is two tiers developing. One connected to the vision, and the other not plugged into it.

When I bought my house, I had a welcome bag given to me and a subscription to the Village Journal. This is a small thing but it made a statement. When I go to City Hall or SID I feel the common project as well. But more generally, I don't as much as I would like. How can we rekindle it? What are your thoughts? I believe we are standing at a turning point.

WORRIES? PART 1 Empty WORRIES? PART 1

Post by Paul2CV Tue Sep 14, 2010 9:20 am

Hi Forum,

I want to share some worries of mine, and I would like to know what you think. There is an old back and forth debate about the virtues of the SID over the City structure and the City over the SID structure. But I want us to try to think beyond that way of looking at things and to what I believe is the bigger question affecting Cherokee Village right now:

What is Cherokee Village?

John Cooper had a vision. It was more than a realtor's development plan. He had a vision of a place where people would both retire and have families built around enjoyment of nature and shared facilities engaged together in a common project of realizing the shared vision. It was, in other words, a COMMUNITY vision. (See part 2)
