Hi trout,

One can try as much as one wants to find excuses for either side. The facts are the facts. Republicans win in creating deficits. The Republicans create them through tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy we can't afford. Democrats create them by expansion of entitlements that we can't afford. And both create them by refusing to deal with their special interest bases and sickening desire for reelection. Democrats win points in my book for being more honest about it all. To listen to the Republican leadership, you would think Obama invented deficits for the first time. Lol

So it took GWB 8 years and two wars where it took BO less that 3 years. So if BO gets 8 years he will become number one in running the country into the ground and we will be working for the Chinese huh?

Debt Ceiling -- "Fun Facts" Empty More Fun Facts

Post by Paul2CV Sat Jul 30, 2011 12:47 pm

Hi Forum,

We all know that we have a 14.3 trillion deficit. Where did it come from? According to the US Treasury, it breaks down like this:

2.4 trillion under Obama

6.1 trillion under George W. Bush

1.4 trillion under Bill Clinton

1. 5 trillion under George Bush

1.9 trillion under Reagan

1.0 trillion prior presidents

The overwhelming winner in deficit making are the Republicans.

Debt Ceiling -- "Fun Facts" Empty Debt Ceiling -- "Fun Facts"

Post by Paul2CV Sat Jul 16, 2011 8:25 am

Hi Forum,

Here's some fun facts:

The "debt ceiling" was raised 17 times under President Reagan, 7 times under President Bush, and 4 times under President Clinton.

The way it looks to me, given past Republican Administration behavior, the fuss over the debt ceiling right now is political theater. The way it looks to me, tax cuts and "supply side" don't produce tax revenues sufficient to run the Federal Government. Obviously.

And if tax cuts produce jobs, where the hell are they?

Don't believe the hype. We have to do BOTH. Reduce spending, raise taxes. We can only hope it's done fairly.
